General Class Descriptions

Hands-On Classes.  From “soup to nuts,” Pans on Fire offers hands-on classes covering an ever-changing range of cuisines and cooking styles.  This means YOU'RE doing the cooking! With the keen guidance of experienced instructors, you'll prepare a three or four course meal. THEN, everyone sits down to eat! Menus focus on easy-to-find ingredients and time-saving steps. Class sizes are generally 12 or fewer participants. Most evening classes are paired with wine or beer and last about 3 hours.

Demonstrations.  Pans on Fire hosts executive chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors and others.  Learn the tips, tools and techniques of these culinary specialists, most of whom will lead heavy tasting to full-meal demonstration classes.  Avg. 2-3 hours.

Zip Lunches.  Once or more times per month, Pans on Fire holds a Zip Lunch where participants learn and practice hands-on techniques to create healthy, satisfying lunches in short order.  Lunch is included.  Avg. 1 hour program.

Kids in the Kitchen.  Programs for juniors, t’weens and teens, as well as for younger children when accompanied by an adult are offered year-round, including kids camps during the summer months.  Class length, topics and tuition vary.

POLICIES

Attire. We suggest you dress casually and comfortably. In our hands-on classes for safety and sanitation reasons, we ask that you wear long pants, a shirt with sleeves, and comfortable, closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair, please be prepared to tie it back. An apron will be provided for your use during class.

Appropriate Ages. Daytime classes are appropriate for people 13 to 130 years old. Evening classes often include alcohol served with the meal, so participation by persons under the age of 21 is not encouraged.

Class Return, Exchange & Cancellation Policy.
PLEASE NOTE: The Pans on Fire Summer Kids Cooking Camp cancellation policy and wait list guidelines differ from those of our regular class offerings. Please read these policies carefully.

For all other classes: If your schedule changes, a full refund may be issued if you notify us at least five (5) days prior to the class date (proof of purchase required). If you cannot attend class, call us at (925) 600-7267, up to 48 HOURS BEFORE the class and we will gladly give you credit towards a future class. If you cancel after this time or miss the class, no refund or credit will be given but you can have the class handout which includes the recipes. If you are unable to attend class, you may send someone in your place. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes. In the event a class is cancelled, all students will be notified and full refunds given.

Alcoholic Beverages. In classes where alcohol is served, no one under the age of 21 may consume alcoholic beverages. Regardless of age, please bring a photo I.D.

After-Class Discount. Students receive a discount on in-store items (excluding small electrics or sale merchandise) on the day of the class.
